Located along the Grand River in downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, the Acrisure Amphitheater anchors a riverfront redevelopment designed to reconnect the city with its waterfront and create a new destination for entertainment and civic gatherings.
The 12,000-seat venue, part of a broader 31-acre revitalization initiative led by Grand Action 2.0, was designed by Progressive Companies and constructed by a joint venture of Pioneer Construction and Barton Malow. When complete, the amphitheater is expected to host more than 50 performances each year and attract more than 300,000 visitors to the downtown riverfront.
Zahner provided fabrication and construction consultation for two architectural elements within the amphitheater complex: the cylindrical “drum” structure and the faceted amphitheater canopy. Working with installation partners Crown Corr and Architectural Glass & Metals, Zahner produced the architectural metal panel systems that enclose these forms.

DSI Spaceframes engineered the amphitheater’s structural space frame. Zahner fabricated the collection of painted aluminum triangular skins that clad this framework, forming the faceted metal surface that wraps the venue’s canopy and seating environment.
Adjacent to the amphitheater, the drum building is wrapped in Zahner’s Flat Seam™ panels with Hunter™ Zinc finish, providing a contrasting smooth architectural form to the faceted aluminum amphitheater.

Together, the two elements highlight Zahner’s utility and expertise in precision metal fabrication, as well as our capabilities for collaboration with architects, engineers, contractors, and specialty installers.
