On Thursday June 28, 2014 thousands of Architects from all over the United States will spend a few intense days learning about what’s new in architecture at the Chicago AIA Convention. Here’s a few projects that they might not know about in Chicago which were completed by Zahner.

1. Sears Tower

Zahner design-engineered and produced the interior metal of the then Sears Tower during its renovation at the end of the 20th Century. It looks as good today as it did twenty years ago.

2. Pritzker Pavilion

3. One Eleven

Zahner is working with Handel Architects to produce a stunning multi-story facade for the entrance to One Eleven Wacker Drive.

4. 65 East Goethe

5. Harold Washington Library

6. The American Medical Association Building

The American Medical Association in Chicago is a good example of how cast aluminum patterns can be custom-designed for elegant effect.

7. Starbucks Roastery

This Zahner fabriated 56-foot cask painted aluminum cask stands as the centerpiece of the Starbucks Roastery Chicago. Designed to mimic an hourglass, the roasted beans are the grains of sand. The skin itself is perforated to reveal views of freshly roasted coffee moving through tubes in all directions.

8. Burberry on Michigan Avenue

Zahner produced the complex facade for the new Burberry Flagship in Chicago, a deep-set fully developed facade integrated with exterior lighting systems.

9. 120 North La Salle

Zahner also produced the six-feet-diameter column cladding which encircle the perimeter of the Millennium park.
