Zahner to speak at Wisconsin AIA
CEO and Hon. AIA L. William Zahner will speak Wednesday May 17 in a lecture entitled “Modern Metal Design” as part of the AIA Wisconsin conference in Madison, Wisconsin.
The Wisconsin chapter of the AIA will be hosting its upcoming architecture conference “Commit” on May 17-18 at the Monona Terrace Convention Center in downtown Madison, Wisconsin. CEO L. William Zahner will deliver a talk entitled “Modern Metal Design” at 9:45am May 17 as part of a morning lecture to visiting designers. Mr. Zahner was named an Honorary member of the AIA in 2007. The lecture will include a discussion on the past, present, and future of metals in architecture.
The interest in the use of metal in architecture and art over the last several decades has skyrocketed. Metals provide lightweight, durable and aesthetic characteristics for a surface. This seminar will provide an overview of current technological approaches to producing custom surfaces and forms. Bill Zahner will describe what will be possible in the near future and how changing the façades and design platforms will connect designers to fabricators.
Keynote speakers include: Margaret Cavenagh, AIA, of Studio Gang, an award-winning interior architect; Mark Rios, FAIA, FASLA from the LA firm of Rios Clemente Hale Studios; Peter Busby, International Assoc. AIA, FRAIC, with Perkins + Will’s San Francisco office.
